Philosophy of Education

Education is a fundamental human right and essential for the exercise of all other human rights. It promotes individual freedom and empowerment and yields important development benefits. - UNESCO


As the means by which a civilization transmits its values to new generations,

education must acknowledge and reflect the history, values, and aspirations of the community it serves

while preparing learners to be global citizens that appreciate other world-views and have a sense of our shared human rights.


As the means by which a government prepares citizens for participation in democratic processes,

education must immerse the learner in authentic problems relating to the operation and well-being of a democracy

while building learners’ awareness and capacity to critique the way things are, speak out against injustice, and seek out better ways to serve citizens.


As the means by which an economy is sustained, invigorated, and revitalized,

education must help the learner discover strengths and interests, develop skills and understandings, nurture an entrepreneurial spirit, and equip the learner with tools for thriving in 21st century global economy

while developing a sense of stewardship over natural resources, and an ethical disposition towards the beings inhabiting the world.


As the means by which an individual develops and discovers self,

education must help the learner develop habits of reflection and questioning, processes of logical thinking, a sense of one’s potential, and the desire to achieve it

while participating and contributing to their communities, holding to high standards both themselves and their communities.
